DigiMedia researcher Filipe T. Moreira was a guest speaker at the 5th World Congress of Criminology, which took place on 17 and 18 November in Fundão under the theme “The Criminologist”.
This event, organised by the Portuguese Institute of Criminology and the Portuguese Criminology Association in collaboration with the Fundão City Council, took place in a hybrid format and had around 600 participants from different countries. During the two days, several national and international experts came to Fundão to debate topics such as “Criminology in Portugal”, “Technologies at the Service of Criminologists”, “Police Science and Criminal Profiling”, “Domestic Violence”, “Juvenile Delinquency”, “Terrorism and Organised Crime”, “Medical-Legal Expertise”, “Human Trafficking” and “Violence in Sport”.
In his presentation, the DigiMedia researcher discussed the importance of 3D digitisation of crime scenes, a technique already in use in several countries and which can help improve forensic investigations.
