DigiMedia joins more than 30 senior researchers in the scientific area of Communication Sciences and Technologies with multidisciplinary backgrounds, ranging from multimedia, design, computer science, philosophy, economy, education and arts, acting in transversal teams and supporting three research pillars — Media Experience and Engagement Design; Technology-Enhanced Learning and Wellbeing; and Digital Culture and Change.
About DigiMedia
DigiMedia was created in 2018 and is located at the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro (Portugal). It is funded by National Funds through FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology, within the scope of projects UIDB/05460/2020 and UIDP/05460/2020, and was rated as "Very Good" in the last evaluation by FCT.
Our Mission
DigiMedia delves into human-computer interaction, prioritising both fundamental and applied research on user experience, learning, wellbeing, and digital culture. This research is driven to create engaging, inclusive, and responsible relationships between humans and the ever-evolving landscape of computational artefacts, encompassing interactive media and intelligent systems, in a three-tier structure: industry, society and academia.

JDMI Periodical Publication
The Journal of Digital Media & Interaction is an international open-access journal, published 2 times a year. The journal addresses research on digital media and user experience in creative, cultural and social contexts. It focuses on the socio-technological challenges seen from a transdisciplinary perspective, grounded in media studies and interaction design, as well as in human-computer interaction, communication, cultural studies, design and psychology.
