Abstract:

Annotation: Extended Reality (XR) technologies, including VR, AR, and MR, are transforming education. In a concise 2-hour hybrid session, participants will learn XR fundamentals through interactive examples and some activities, highlighting XR’s role in enhancing learning.

Bio:

Elitsa Vasileva Peltekova, Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology and Information assurance expert E-Learning at E-Distance and Distance Learning Sector at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Sofia University). Her research and academic interests are in the field of: interactive content and technologies (interactive boards), extended reality, inquiry-based learning; application of information and communication technologies in education.

She holds a Doctoral degree in Computer science and Master in E-learning from FMI at Sofia, Bulgaria and Bachelor in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at the Technical University – Sofia, Bulgaria.

Elitsa has been a visiting researcher in 2023 at the Institute for Educational Technology (CNR-ITD), Genoa, Italy. She has been a doctoral exchange student within Erasmus+ Programme in 2016 at the Faculty of applied informatics and mathematics at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Szkoła Główna Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego w Warszawie, SGGW), Warsaw, Poland. She has been an exchange bachelor student within Erasmus Programme in 2008 at the Free University of Brussels (Université libre de Bruxelles, ULB), Brussels, Belgium.

She has been working at Sofia University since 2009 and she is also currently part of the team of the Distance Learning Center of SU.

Since 2013 she has been a lecturer at RAABE Bulgaria on topics related to the use of interactive whiteboards in the educational process, Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), cloud technologies for education (Microsoft Teams, Google Suite/Workspace), etc.

Since 2008 she has participated in 40 projects – both national and international. Author and co-author of 32 publications.
