Biography

Ana Carla Amaro has a high degree in New Communication Technologies and a PhD in Multimedia in Education from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Her PhD research focused on understanding children’s narrative structuring processes to develop a technological tool for supporting storytelling activities.

Her post-doctoral project aimed to provide insight into how tablets are collaboratively used by older adults/grandparents and (grand)children and the impact that those interactions may have on intergenerational relationships, digital literacy, and attitudes towards each other. More recently, she has co-led research projects on innovative technological approaches to preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

Ana Carla Amaro is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro, teaching subjects in Communication Sciences and Technologies to various study cycles and supervising master and doctoral students.

She was Vice-Director of the High Degree in New Communication Technologies from 2013 to 2016 and has been part of the Course Committee for this degree from 2021 to 2024.

She has collaborated on scientific committees and editorial boards and has been a reviewer in several international journals and scientific events.
